如何在vSphere创建的虚机中安装VMware WorkStation

　　今天同事想在虚机中安装VMware WorkStation，发现这是无法实现的。错误提示如下："Sorry, this product cannot be installed inside a virtual machine."


　　

　　上网查了下，VMware WorkStation确实不能安装在虚拟机中。 但同事又确实需要在虚机里用VMware Station装载image来用。
　　

　　目前还没想到有啥好办法，正在探索中。CSDNers们有谁知道solution也希望能指教一下。

　　今天查了下，发现Virtual Box可以兼容装载WMware的镜像，如果Virtual Box能安装在vSphere创建的虚机当中，那么上述问题也就解决了。正在下载Virtual Box，希望能够解决这个问题。

　　Virtual Box在vSphere创建的虚机中安装成功了！ 但到底能不能成功装载WMware的镜像仍然未知。
　　从verycd找了个xp的.vmdk文件下载下来。开始时候以为Virtual Box不支持.vmdk，遂从网上找到了将.vmdk转换为.vdi的方法。Virtual Box在其安装根目录下提供了一个VBoxManage工具，该工具就提供了.vmdk和.vdi的相互转化功能。
　　.vmdk → .vdi   命令是：vboxmanage clonehd source.vmdk target.vdi --format vdi
　　.vdi → .vmdk  命令是：vboxmanage clonehd source.vdi target.vmdk --format vmdk
　　此处注意，若source或target文件名中含有空格，则要用双引号把文件名引起来，否则cmd会把空格后面的部分当做命令参数而报错。
　　于是将下载下来的.vmdk转化为了.vdi，在虚机中用Virtual Box创建了一个虚机，加载了.vdi，但是运行虚机后屏幕黑屏，并没有反应。这时候发现Virtual Box 本身支持.vmdk，于是将刚才的黑屏情况暂时一放，又创建了一虚机，直接加载.vmdk，但结果仍然是黑屏。
　　

　　为了排除镜像文件本身有问题的可能性，我退出虚机回到真机，想在真机下加载一下.vmdk看是否成功。于是安装了VMware Workstation，创建虚机加载.vmdk，果然出错。提示“Could not create named IPC listener pipe \\.\pipe\VMWARE\control-fd.7640: 修订级别未知Module VUI initialization failed.” 喷血，这是个啥错误。。。百度了一下，说只要添加一个“__vmware_user__”用户就可以。将信将疑，在控制面板的用户帐户中添加了该用户并给予管理员权限，再用VMware Workstation加载.vmdk，运行虚拟机，成功了。我晕。。。看来不是镜像文件的问题。

　　继续尝试，看到底是什么问题。
　　

　　边试边写，发现用vboxmanage将.vmdk转化为.vdi之后，若把.vdi直接复制到别的目录，将会导致加载失败。很奇特。。。必须用命令

　　VBoxManage clonevdi  <srcpath> <destpath>
　　来移动.vdi文件。

　　Finally....成功了。不管是加载.vmdk还是转换后的.vdi，运行虚机后都不能进入xp，连loading画面都见不着，直接就一直黑着屏。后来在设置中做了如下修改：
　　将Chipset从“PIIX3”换为“ICH9”


　　

　　然后再次启动虚机，OK，成了。
　　至于PIIX3和ICH9之前还真没听说过。百度了下，无果。Google，查到如下信息：

                              all i know is these two chips are south-bridge chip.
and  PIIX3 is earlier than ICH9.   maybe this control the interface to access harddisk .

　　VirtualBox 4.0 adds new chipset options that supplement the options that used to be available in older versions of the product. A chipset is among the most important components of a system and includes components such as PCI/PCI Express bridges and more.

• PIIX3. The original VirtualBox chipset option.
  
• ICH9. Used by newer operating systems, such as Mac OS X.
  

　　Before you jump on the ICH9 bandwagon because it’s newer, be careful. Message boards are rife with comments from VirtualBox users reporting issues with ICH9. Although PIIX3 is an older chipset, for virtual machine purposes, it tends to work very well. Only if you run into something insurmountable under PIIX3 do I recommend a move to ICH9.
　　到这里，能想到做到的都弄好了。刚刚跟同事说了下，但心里仍然没底，因为我只是测试了用Virtual Box导入.vmdk，至于能否直接导入VMware Workstation的虚机镜像文件完全不敢确定，而且还偏向于否定。因为没有同事的镜像文件，故无法测试。同事已经自己去试了，等待回复中。
