　　（1）发行版(distribution)和套件组别(Section)
　　

为了要和Debian系统整合，大部份 Debian 相关的套件库都会和 Debian 官方一样分三个发行版本(distribution):
稳定版(stable, lenny) - 配合 Debian 正式的发行版本。
测式版(testing, squeeze) - 配合 Debian 正在测试中的版本，以就是指版本名称 squeeze。
不稳定版(unstable, sid) - 配合开发版本的 Debian。
而每个发行版本亦一般会分三个组别(Section):
main - 提供了 Debian 官方主要的软件。这些软件都符合 Debian Free Software Guideline(DFSG)，并会包括在官方安装光盘中。
contrib -提供了因为依靠了一些在Non-free组别套件 (即不符合Debian Free Software Guideline) 的套件。
non-free -提供非自由软件的套件。这些软件都未能符合Debian Free Software Guideline(DFSG) 。
（2）架构说明
　　

AMD64 (amd64)- 供使用 x86-64 (即包括 AMD64 或 Intel64) 架构的计算机，包括 Athlon64、Opteron、Turion64、Pentium D、Pentium Extreme Edition、EM64T Xeon (Woodcrest) 和 Core 2 等。基本上所有非 Itanium 的 Intel/AMD 兼容 64-bit 处理器都可以使用这个版本。非 64-bit 的 AMD 计算机请用 Intel x86。当然对桌面用户的意义不大，但用作架服务器 (server)，整体速度会比 i386 快。
Intel x86 (i386) - 供所有 Intel/AMD 等兼容处理器的计算机之用，即差不多任用可以跑微软窗口的计算机。
Intel IA-64 (ia64) - IA64 架机计算机，包括 Itanium 和 Itanium 2。
